ALL HAIL THE QUEEN

Today is a National Holiday.
 IT'S MY MOM'S BIRTHDAY!

It just wouldn't be right if I didn't pay tribute to the Grand Divah on her birthday and launch day of Divah's Place.

Anyone who has spent any amount of time with  me or around me knows how important my mom is to me. My mom, Sharon E. Foster, is nothing short of ahhmazing. She has been called The Queen for as long as I can remember by my dad. The funny thing is, when new friends come into my life they pick up on this "Queen" thing without me even saying anything about it at all. That must mean she possesses a Queen-like aura, right? She does. My mom has a few other nick names that she's graciously accepted over the years; the most recent one being "Sha".

Sha is such a fantastic Wife and Mother. My family and I are blessed beyond measure to have her in our lives. The quality that I love most about her is her ability to listen to your issue and provide you with advice all without an ounce of judgement. Let's be clear my brothers and I have definitely taken some issues to her that she didn't like or agree with, but there has never been an ounce of judgement or "I told you so" in her. She is full of nothing but love. I hope that I am half the wife and mom (maybe) that she has been to my dad, my brothers and I. Happy Birthday, Sha! Love ya! #TURNUP

I thought it would be fun to include a short mom tag in this birthday post. Enjoy!

Q:     What was I like as a child?

A:     Smart, Quiet and Helpful

Q:     What's something funny I did when I was younger?

A:     Unintentionally act like Dee from What's Happening?

Me:   Really, Sha?

A:     Yes, ask your brothers and their friends

Q:     If you had to rename me, what would my name be?

A:     Kizzi from Roots

M:     Why? Do you think I grew into a "Kizzi"

A:     Because that's what your dad wanted to name you.  Yes, you grew into a "Kizzi". He always knew that you would be who you are today. The natural, "I am woman hear me roar", HBCU enthusiast, supporter of black business and one who embraces YOUR culture.

Q:     What is the one thing that you wish I would do right now?

A:     Get married and have a baby.

M:    Not like I didn't see that one coming. Sheesh

Q:     What's your favorite moment of us together?

A:     That's hard, we've had a lot. I would say our girl's trip to Mexico.

Q:     What would you change if you could raise me again?

A:     Nothing.

Q:     What's the most important thing to you?

A:     My relationship with Christ.

Q:     What do you want your legacy to be?

A:     I want people to remember that I raised my family well, I was kind and that I lived life to the fullest!
